At high tide the seaside is a swimmer’s paradise whilst at low tide it becomes the favourite hunting ground for pêcheurs à pied (beachfishermen searching for crabs, shellfish etc). The seawall promenades offer holidaymakers beautiful walks all year round : whether to appreciate the sunset in the summer months or to get a good breath of fresh sea air in the winter. Through out the summer season, the beaches at St-Germain-sur-Ay and Pirou are supervised by specially-trained lifeguards from the SNSM. Other beaches along thecoast are provided with emergency alarms.
