The village’s inhabitants are known as Patrichots.

According to the scholar Beaurepaire, the name of the village came from Saint-Patrick, the famous evangelist from Ireland, together with the low Latin word “cleta” meaning “enclosure”.

The village also has an 80 hectare forest, as well as the Château de Claids (now split up into three farms) and the Manoir de la Guerrie which dates from the 16th C.
